Scientific Papers Regulations

1. Whoever is interested in submitting papers for selection and subsequent presentation at the JPR'2017 must complete the registration form on the website www.jpr2017.org.br until January 9, 2017.

2. The author responsible for registration, main author, should inform personal information to register and to be contacted.

3. The registered e-mail address will be used for future communications related to the entry. It is up to the main author to pass on to other authors the information received. He/she must also check incoming e-mails at the address provided. Authors can follow the information about the approval of abstracts submitted on the congress website.

- CATEGORIES AND TYPES OF PAPERS:

- Choose a category (A, B, C);
- Choose the number of area ( 1 - 17);
- Choose study (A, B, C, D). Instructions to follow.

4. CATEGORY: The main author should classify his/her abstract into one of the following categories, A, B and C:

Option A – Posters (PA) – physical display at the event area.
Option B – Digital Presentation (PD) – digital display on computers.
Option C – Oral Presentation (TL) – presentation during lectures. Attention: for this category only original papers will be accepted.

5. NUMBER OF PAPER AREA: Then, choose the corresponding number to the area in which the paper fits:

6. Regarding the above-described areas, if the main author register the paper in an area that does not correspond to that to which the abstract belongs, it may be redirected by the Scientific Paper Committee.

7. STUDY The main author must indicate the type of study conducted, according to the following options, A, B, C, D:

Option A - Original Paper: Original scientific work resulting from research, contributing to the advancement of medical science. This paper should allow other researchers or specialized professionals to repeat the described observations and judge the results and conclusions of the author(s), and to verify the accuracy of the method of analysis, the discussion and the conclusions deduction. The choice mode of the study sample should be referred to, and particular attention should be payed to the statistical treatment of results. Only clinical and laboratory essential and conclusive data should be cited. The recommended structure for a scientific paper should be followed, including a bibliography.

Option B - Case Report Brief description of a special case(s), which, by its rarity or special news interest to the community, transcends the individual patient. The recommended structure for a scientific paper should be followed, including a bibliography.

Option C - Pictorial Essay: Essay that conveys messages through pictures and captions, with little text. It is not based on original research, and its main function is to educate experts complementarily. The recommended structure for a scientific paper should be followed, including a bibliography.

Option D - Literature Review In this type of paper the author will work with several cases, by one or more authors. He/she must gather up material, carry out analysis and/or reflection on the subject, often seeking controversial aspects or promoting discussion of different opinions through their work. The recommended structure for a scientific paper should be followed, including a bibliography.

COMPLETING THE ABSTRACT FIELDS

8.The responsible author must fill in all fields equivalent to the paper abstract. In total, these fields should contain no more than 200 words.

Option B - Case Report
a) Brief description of the study purpose
b) Clinical history
c) Discussion and diagnosis, or vice versa

Option C – Pictorial Essay

Opção D – Literature Review
a) Brief description(s) of the purpose(s) of the Literature Review
b) Description(s) of disease(s), method(s) and/or technique(s)
c) Discussion
d) Conclusions


9. The main author must inform if the paper is registered with the International Review Board (IRB). If the paper has been registered with this board, the author must mention the registration number when submitting the paper (abstract).

10. The responsible author must declare whether there is a conflict of interest. If any, he/she must inform which one.

11. Both on the title and the paper abstract, it is forbidden to mention the name of the institution where the study was conducted and/or where the authors work. If it becomes essential, the name in question should be replaced by XXX or YYY or ZZZ (E.g.: Review of 48 Cases of Orbital Tumors of the XXXX Institute of Medicine of the YYYY Institution). Abstracts that do not comply with this rule will be disqualified.

12. The abstract should be written in English and also in a second language to be chosen, as follows:
a) Portuguese
b) Spanish
Abstracts written in languages other than those indicated in this regulation may not be accepted for this event.

13. Do not include bibliographical references in the abstract registration, but they must be cited in the presentation during the JPR’2017.

14. Words that have known abbreviation can/should be abbreviated after the first appearance in the text, with the abbreviation in parentheses. Examples: Central Nervous System (CNS), Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Ultrasound (US), etc.

15. Graphics devices (bold, italics, capital letters, etc.) should not be used to emphasize words in the text.

16.16. In the space designated “Name of Authors”, the record of the names should be made in the following order: last name in capital letters, followed by the initials of other names.
17. 17. Authors of all selected Scientific Papers must compulsorily send to SPR (Av. Paulista, 491, Conj. 41/42, CEP 01311-000, São Paulo, SP) a CD/DVD, containing a PowerPoint version of the paper, until March 14, 2017. This CD/DVD must contain on the disc and its cover the following information:

a) Paper Code generated at the time of submission of the abstract;
b) Title of the paper, as recorded at the time of submission of the abstract;
c) Area in which the abstract was registered;
d) Category in which the paper will be presented at the event (Poster, Digital Presentation or Oral Presentation);
e) Name of the main author, as recorded at the time of submission of the abstract;
f) Contact details of the main author, in charge of the communication between JPR’2017 and the other authors.
The lack of identification and/or data may disqualify the paper.

18. CD/DVD sent via mail transport companies, as Post Office, FedEx, TNT, DHL, etc. must have shipping taxes paid by the sender at the time of posting. Mails not submitted under these conditions will not be received by SPR.

19. Submission must also be made via the internet, at www.jpr2017.org.br, by uploading system on the Scientific Papers page, from February 17, 2017. PowerPoint files sent by the website must be 30 megabytes, at most.

20. It is not possible to exchange files after sending it to SPR.

21. Those who do not submit the paper presentation by the specified date will not have their paper assessed during JPR'2017.

22. The PowerPoint presentation has no minimum number of slides but should not exceed 30. The content should be designed so that participants can read the presentations, study them, understand them and learn from it, during the JPR or later, independently.

23. In the case of Scientific Papers – Posters, the last PowerPoint file slide must be a panoramic image of the poster (similar to the layout of the final paper).
24. According to the registration held by the author(s) and the selection by the Scientific Paper of Committee, papers can be submitted in one of the four categories below:

Posters: Poster measures are 0.90 m high and 1.90 m wide. It is important to mention that good quality papers that do not get a place for display in the congress physical area can be invited to make an exclusive presentation on the computer. Those posters, in addition to the printed presentation, will be available on computers at the Scientific Paper – Digital Presentation Office during JPR’2017. Prepare to use all the provided space, since it enriches your presentation.

Digital Presentation: Papers submitted or relocated to exclusively digital presentation. These files must be made in PowerPoint.

Temas Livres: Apresentações orais realizadas entre as aulas da JPR’2017. Cada apresentação será de 8 minutos, seguida de 2 minutos para discussão e esclarecimentos (exceto nos casos em que o coordenador de curso altere o tempo previamente acertado). O tempo de apresentação é improrrogável. O apresentador não precisa ser o primeiro autor; porém, é necessário que esteja inscrito na JPR’2017. Os trabalhos de boa qualidade que não obtiverem vaga para apresentação oral podem ser convidados para apresentação em outros formatos.

Oral Presentation: Oral Presentations made between JPR'2017 lectures. Each presentation will last 8 minutes followed by 2 minutes for discussion and clarification (except when the course coordinator changes the previously agreed time). Presentation time is not extendable. Presenter does not need to be the first author; however, he/she must be enrolled in JPR'2017. Good quality papers that do not get a place for oral presentation may be invited for presentation in other formats.

Commented Panels: Best papers on "Scientific Papers - Posters" and "Scientific Papers - Digital Presentation" can be selected for commented presentation, since the author(s) agrees to that. The Commented Panel presenter does not have to be the first author, but he/she must be enrolled in JPR’2017.

25. PowerPoint files previously sent to SPR will be entered in the computers of the JPR’2017 Scientific Papers – Digital Presentation Section.

26. There will be no user access to the computers CPU of the Scientific Papers Section, and those computers will not be connected to the Internet, which will invalidate the possibility of copying or submitting material by email.

27. Scientific Papers – Oral Presentation and Commented Panels authors must take to JPR'2017, on the day of their presentation, the media file with its presentation. Submissions prior to SPR will be used solely for installation on the computers of the Scientific Papers – Digital Presentation Section.

28. On papers, it is expressly prohibited identifying patients in examinations. Those who do not respect this rule will be disqualified.

29. In the bibliographical references, use Vancouver Style standard (as on Radiology, Revista da Imagem, and Radiologia Brasileira).

30. Literature Review and Pictorial Essay papers must consist of original photos. Papers with images taken from the internet, books, journals, etc. will not be accepted.

31. It is necessary to cite the source when used illustrations are not original.

32. Whether it is a Scientific Paper – Poster, a Commented Panel or a Scientific Paper – Oral Presentation, the author must mention if it has a registration with the International Review Board (IRB).

33. Responsible Authorship: All abstracts accepted for presentation at JPR'2017 must contain the contribution of each author to prepare the paper, at the end of the text, after the bibliography. (Examples: idealization, cases and bibliographical surveys, proofreading, etc., see the model used in Radiology, Revista da Imagem, and Radiologia Brasileira).

34. The paper presentation certificate will be accessible in the digital version at www.jpr2017.org.br after the event. SPR does not provide printed certificate
36. After JPR'2017, the same PowerPoint presentation may be published on the congress (www.jpr2017.org.br) and the SPR (www.spr.org.br) websites, so authors, when submitting papers, should be aware of this presentation mode subsequent to JPR.

37. Awarded papers will automatically be included on the website to enable more access and dissemination of the presented scientific knowledge.

38. For copyright protection, a watermark with the SPR logo will be placed on the images released on the site, in such a size that allows the source to be identified. Additionally, published images will have a minimum resolution for viewing on screen/web, which prevents their unauthorized or malicious use in publications or printed periodicals, or even published on the web.
39. The e-mail address of the responsible author for the paper will be published on the special supplement, "JPR'2017 – Scientific Papers" for possible exchange of information.

40. Other cases not mentioned in these regulations shall be decided individually by the Committee as required.
